The Senior Vice President of Hardware at Google confirmed in an interview with AndroidPIT that the Pixel will get a sequel, this year.
“There is an annual rhythm in the industry,” Osterloh said. “So, you can count on us to follow it.”
At what time of the year they are planning on launching new smartphones was not said, although we’re expecting it to come at the same time as it did last year (late).
“You can count on a successor this year, even if you don’t hear a date from me now,” he said
Price wise, the Pixel lineup will stay being a premium phone. We got that confirmation in the same interview where the Senior VP of Hardware said: “Pixel stays premium.”
When it comes to shipping & manufacturing, Google has to get their stuff together to not give the second iteration of the phone the same shitty launch that the first generation got.
We’ll update the site with more news about the Google Pixel 2 as they come in.
